The Effect of Financial Barriers On Access to Health Services by Disabled Children in Gulu District, Uganda.
Komakech Samuel, Dr. Judy Wambui Mwangi, Dr. Charles Mogote
Abstract: The study to analyse financial barriers to access healthcare services by disabled children was conducted in Gulu district, Uganda. Literature reviewed has shown that there is an increasing number of disabled children in the world. In Gulu district, the number of children affected by nodding syndrome increased steadily through the year 2000. Nodding Syndrome (NS) is a critical and pervasive threat to human security in the affected communities of Northern Uganda, because it exacerbates vulnerability of people in the process of recovering from violent conflict".

Abstract: In the rapidly evolving life insurance sector, Accelerated Underwriting (AU) and Fluid less Underwriting have emerged as transformative innovations that redefine the traditionally slow and invasive underwriting process. In response to growing consumer demand for seamless, expedited experiences, these advanced models harness machine learning, predictive analytics, and non-invasive data sources—such as electronic health records (EHRs), financial data, and lifestyle indicators—to assess risk with remarkable speed and precision, eliminating the need for conventional medical exams.

Abstract: Many countries worldwide especially developing countries such as Nigeria, India, Brazil, and those in sub-Saharan Africa grapple with many problems in the health sector such as few medical staff, poor working conditions, inadequate health facilities, skewed location of health facilities, and poor medical equipment supply. The Kenya health sector was devolved in 2013 in line with the Kenyan 2010 constitution since devolution was seen as the best way to provide health services. However, the decision has encountered numerous challenges that have periodically paralyzed the provision of health services leading to frequent strikes with many actors advocating for the reversal of the decision.

Abstract: Generative AI, a subset of artificial intelligence (AI), possesses the ability to produce diverse forms of data, including images, videos, audio, text, and 3D models. It achieves this by analyzing existing data patterns and leveraging this knowledge to generate fresh and distinct outputs. Noteworthy advancements in the field, exemplified by OpenAIs ChatGPT, have substantially enhanced the potential of generative AI.

Abstract: The knee joint is one of the largest joints in the human body. It can withstand high load forces during walking, jumping, and standing; a function aided by the menisci which act as shock absorbers. Empirical studies have demonstrated the role of the meniscus in shock absorption and weight distribution on the lower limbs, and an injury to it directly interferes with the patient’s quality of life. To alleviate this, there is need for personalized allografts in meniscal replacement surgeries.

Abstract: As technology becomes more integrated within U.S. healthcare systems, the privacy of patient information has become increasingly threatened by cybersecurity attacks. The paper aims to address the issue by explaining how cybersecurity attacks on patient data has impacted the privacy of data within the U.S. healthcare systems by covering the extent, legal and regulatory frameworks, the consequences and the effects of such exposures of sensitive data, and recommendations towards addressing the challenges with mitigating the threats of cyberattack on patient data. The study concludes that while the privacy of patient information is essential for trust or safety within U.S. healthcare system, cybersecurity needs to be considered as a global security issue in our world that is highly depended on Information Technology.

Abstract: Background: Leprosy, also known as Hansen’s disease is a chronic infectious, granulomatous disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae and Mycobacterium lepromatosis (a newly identified variant), a microorganism that has a predilection for the skin and the nerves. Although rare in developed nation, Hansen’s disease is still a major health burden in developing country like India. Despite control efforts, including the widespread use of MDT and stabilization of reported new case detection rates, leprosy remains endemic in many places in India.

Abstract: This study explores the pivotal role of labor policy in promoting economic development in Nepal, particularly within rural areas, where approximately 66% of the population is engaged in agriculture and informal employment (FAO, 2024; Nepal Economic Forum, 2024). Effective labor policies are essential for improving livelihoods, reducing poverty, and supporting inclusive growth. This research highlights the importance of comprehensive labor policies that safeguard workers rights and stimulate economic activities, addressing key rural challenges such as low productivity, seasonal employment, and limited market access.

Abstract: Herein is an automated and eco-friendly system for the coagulation of natural rubber using coconut water as a bio-based and safer alternative to chemical coagulants such as formic acid. Additionally, IoT sensors have been integrated with this system for real-time monitoring of coagulation parameters, while a machine learning model will be used to predict quality, and blockchain technology will ensure traceability end-to-end. IoT sensors monitor pH, temperature, and coagulation time in real time for ideal conditions that produce a rubber sheet with quality comparable to chemically produced sheets.

Abstract: Confined spaces, often encountered in industries such as construction and manufacturing, pose unique risks due to limited entry points, hazardous atmospheres, and potential physical dangers. This study aims to analyze the definitions, hazards, and safety protocols related to confined spaces, guided by regulatory standards like OSHA and ANSI. Emphasis is placed on the importance of risk assessment, air quality monitoring, and psychological readiness as critical components for ensuring safety in confined environments. This paper also reviews best practices for confined space entry, including specific protocols designed to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with safety regulations. By following these standards, industries can effectively manage the risks associated with confined spaces, fostering safer work environments for all employees involved in high-risk operations.

Abstract: Atherectomy is a surgical procedure used to remove and ablate plaque buildup and open narrow or blocked arteries with minimally invasive to restore normal blood flow in arteries. Rotational Atherectomy (RA) represents a viable therapeutic approach for addressing severe calcified lesions that arise during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for hemodynamically significant coronary stenosis. In the United States, approximately 6.5 million individuals over the age of 40 undergo PCI procedures. Notably, Rotational Atherectomy has been commercially accessible for nearly thirty years, having been introduced by Boston Scientific [1].
