Abstract:
As technology becomes more integrated within U.S. healthcare systems, the privacy of patient information has become increasingly threatened by cybersecurity attacks. The paper aims to address the issue by explaining how cybersecurity attacks on patient data has impacted the privacy of data within the U.S. healthcare systems by covering the extent, legal and regulatory frameworks, the consequences and the effects of such exposures of sensitive data, and recommendations towards addressing the challenges with mitigating the threats of cyberattack on patient data. The study concludes that while the privacy of patient information is essential for trust or safety within U.S. healthcare system, cybersecurity needs to be considered as a global security issue in our world that is highly depended on Information Technology.
