Abstract:
The knee joint is one of the largest joints in the human body. It can withstand high load forces during walking, jumping, and standing; a function aided by the menisci which act as shock absorbers. Empirical studies have demonstrated the role of the meniscus in shock absorption and weight distribution on the lower limbs, and an injury to it directly interferes with the patient’s quality of life. To alleviate this, there is need for personalized allografts in meniscal replacement surgeries.
