Abstract: Patient experience is a key indicator of healthcare quality and an essential component of patient-centred care. In Sri Lanka, public hospitals routinely conduct patient satisfaction surveys using a standardized questionnaire developed by the Directorate of Healthcare Quality and Safety, Ministry of Health. Despite widespread implementation, few published studies have analysed these routinely collected data to evaluate patient experience or examined the strengths and limitations of the national survey instrument.

Although there are plenty of treatment options, Tamoxifen remains a cornerstone for treating hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. However, Tamoxifen is still a prodrug that requires enzyme CYP2D6 to be converted to Endoxifen, the most active metabolite. In contrast, Fluoxetine is one of the CYP2D6 inhibitors used for treating anxiety or depression in breast cancer patients.

This study assessed customer service performance of rural water schemes operating under the Delegated Management Model (DMM) in Kisumu County, Kenya, using the case of NYANAS Water Company. Specifically, the study examined service availability, affordability of water services, and responsiveness to customer concerns, and their influence on customer satisfaction.

Abstract: Handover from an ambulance crew to emergency department (ED) staff is a short, crowded exchange on which much of a patient's early hospital care depends. Research on this interface has concentrated on what information moves across it and on the mnemonics used to structure the telling. A prior question has attracted much less attention: whether paramedics feel able to say what they know. This paper brings together evidence from organisational behaviour and from emergency care research to argue that prehospital-to-hospital handover is a psychological safety problem as much as an information-design problem.

Determination of the Hip Center of Rotation in Filipinos Using Radiographic Landmarks

Abstract: The hip center of rotation is an important landmark in performing total hip replacement and its restoration is one of the goals of the reconstruction. Several studies have attempted to locate the hCOR using radiographic landmarks. However, most of these methods were done on the Western population and only a few on Asian populations. Racial variations may influence the hip and pelvis morphometry and the hCOR. This may also have implications in the outcome of total hip arthroplasty. Thus, standardized values for Filipinos must be determined.
Offline Assessment of Stem Detection Technique for Effective Plant Treatment Using Precision Vision Systems

Abstract: This work presents a vision-based approach for detecting plant stems by separating them from surrounding elements such as leaves, soil, and background noise. An expanded dataset of early-stage corn plant images is utilized to train the model. The system detects the vertical plant structure and generates corresponding stem bounding boxes. It also evaluates the suitability of microprocessor-based platforms for efficient and portable execution of signal processing and machine learning techniques, using a Raspberry Pi 5 for deployment. The trained model achieved a mean Average Precision (mAP) of 0.777 at an IoU threshold of 0.50 and 0.346 over the IoU range of 0.50–0.95. To assess real-time applicability in agricultural settings, inference latency and CPU utilization were evaluated using field-recorded video sequences across multiple model formats. Quantized TensorFlow Lite (TFLite) implementations, including full integer and standard integer variants, achieved an average inference time of approximately 43 ms, corresponding to ~18 FPS including processing overhead. Other TFLite configurations (float16, float32, and int8) showed an average CPU usage of ~35%, representing a 42% reduction compared to the baseline PyTorch model. Additionally, inference performance and CPU utilization were analyzed for TorchScript, ONNX, OpenVINO, and NCNN frameworks.

Abstract: This study examined the influence of strategic innovation on the performance of distribution systems among computer hardware distributors in Kenya, with operational efficiency assessed as a mediating variable. The study focused on four dimensions of strategic innovation: supply chain (technological), process, product, and business model innovation. Guided by the Resource-Based View, Diffusion of Innovations Theory, and Dynamic Capabilities Theory, the study adopted a descriptive survey design and a census approach targeting 25 managers and supervisors across 14 licensed and authorized computer hardware distributors.
