Abstract: Local governments play a crucial role in ensuring effective service delivery, promoting community development, and safeguarding the interests of citizens. However, in Nigeria, persistent state interference in local government finances and revenue generation has undermined local government autonomy, resulting in inadequate funding, constitutional ambiguities, political instability, and corruption challenges that continue to weaken service delivery in key sectors such as education and health.
