Abstract: The Kenya-Somalia diplomatic rift and ongoing territorial dispute significantly impact Kenyan trade and commerce relations. While there is existing knowledge about the dispute and its implications, key aspects still require further investigation to understand the extent and specific consequences on Kenyan trade fully. This study aimed to determine the effects of the Kenya-Somalia diplomatic rift on Kenyan trade and commerce relations with Somalia between 2012 and 2021. This study period was selected because it is a historical period when transited transformed into a Federal State and boldly reclaimed control of her international affairs. The objectives of the study was to examine the effects of the Kenya-Somalia diplomatic rift on the Miraa trade between Kenya and Somalia. The research design used in the study was descriptive. The study was conducted in Nairobi City County and stratified sampling was appropriate for the study. The primary data collection method used in this study was questionnaires. Most respondents agreed, and the results show that diplomatic rifts and their resolution can profitably embrace an institutional approach that sanitizes us to benefit from well-defined borders together. The possibility of such benefits impacted the choice to resolve the unresolved border issue amicably to foster better relations that favor unresolved trade and peaceful coexistence. The government should implement regulations and initiatives designed to deter young people from engaging in the production and trade of miraa.

Abstract: Total Knee Arthroplasty is a surgical procedure used to relieve pain and restore function in patients with advanced knee arthritis or severe injuries. With an estimated 250 million people affected globally, TKA is one of the most commonly performed orthopedic surgeries. The success rate of TKA surgeries varies worldwide, with reported patient satisfaction rates ranging from 80% to 95%. In our local setting, the prevalence of knee osteoarthritis and the demand for TKA surgery have been steadily increasing, with the number of TKA procedures performed annually doubling in the past decade. Understanding patient demographics, expectations, and satisfaction levels is crucial for optimizing surgical outcomes and patient care.

Abstract: In this paper, we introduced and studied a new kind of generalized closed set called τ_1 τ_2-gso-closed sets in bitopological Space (X,τ_1,τ_2). A subset A of a bitopological spaces X is called a τ_1 τ_2-gso-closed set if A is both τ_1 τ_2-g-closed set and τ_1 τ_2-semi-open set in X. The properties of the τ_1 τ_2-gso-closed sets are investigated, and they are compared with the existing relevant generalized closed sets.

Abstract: According to Sujan (2023), scientific research is the process of finding facts or solutions to problems systematically, experimentally, and logically. It’s a process that always remains purposive and comprehensive. It is a “systematic, empirical, and critical investigation of propositions about the presumed relationship among the variables (Kerlinger 1973).” It is not undertaken based on someone’s intuition, experience, and estimation, instead, it is always comprehensive and objective in nature.

Abstract: Incidents of fire within hospitals can lead to a multitude of injuries, significant property damage, and even loss of life. Understanding and following fire safety measures and readiness among health workers can significantly protect lives. The aim of the study was to assess health workers knowledge and readiness for fire safety in Lusaka, Zambia. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 52 healthcare workers in Lusaka, Zambia at two public hospitals, the University Teaching Hospital and Sikanze Police Hospital. SPSS IBM statistics were used to analyze the data in the form of percentages and proportions. The bulk of the 52 respondents that took part in this study were females (55.8%), as opposed to males (44.2%). Most health workers in the survey (50.0%) were between the ages of 38 and 47, and the majority (30.8%) had worked at the hospital for 1 to 5 years. The study also showed that 49 (94.2%) of the health workers in the sample had graduated from tertiary education. Most respondents had sufficient awareness of fire safety, according to the research but lack the information and training necessary to apply fire safety preparedness techniques. Thus, the study suggests that staff should receive training on how to operate fire apparatus and participate in emergency evacuation exercises or simulations.

Abstract: Pausing during the L2 writing process is an effective writing strategy used by ESL learners. The present study aims to explore the functions of pauses in the L2 writing process, different contexts where pausing occurs in the writing process, and interactions enhanced during pauses. Twenty ESL learners at the tertiary level were employed as the study sample following the convenient sampling technique. A semi-structured interview was administered as the data collection instrument. The data were analyzed through content analysis. The results indicate that pauses in L2 writing activate cognitive, metacognitive, memory, and social functions. Moreover, ESL learners pause at different text-boundary levels: word, phrase, sentence, and paragraph depending on their linguistic competency. Additionally, the results indicated that ESL learners interact with varied social (human) resources and physical during the pauses in writing to improve the quality of their writing. Hence, meaningful pauses are a successful L2 writing strategy that enhances the quality of writing.

Abstract: The effects of disasters on people lives are increasing. People in a variety of organizations and institutions prepare for disasters as a result of these scenarios; nevertheless, few studies have examined the impact of disaster awareness on preparedness, particularly among college students studying Social Work, Political Science, and Criminal Justice Education. Hence, this study aimed to determine the level of disaster awareness and preparedness of students of ASIST Main Campus Extension – La Paz and to determine the significant relationship between age, sex, civil status, and the number of disaster management training/program they had attended to their disaster awareness and preparedness. A descriptive-correlational quantitative design of research was utilized in this research. Samples were drawn using purposive-convenience sampling comprising 211 students from the three courses namely Political Science, Social Work, and Criminal Justice Education. The questionnaire used contained the awareness on different disasters such as earthquake, typhoon, and flood, and the disaster preparedness in terms of emergency planning and coordination, communication and information sharing, and Infrastructure and critical facilities. These were subjected to validation by experts in disaster management. Statistical tools used to answer the research questions includes frequency counts, percentage, mean, and bivariate analysis tested at 0.05 level of significance.
