Abstract:
In Somalia, the severity and frequency of flooding has increased dramatically over the last few decades, posing a serious threat to the livelihoods of the local population. In the recent past, the Somali government and other humanitarian organizations have worked closely with communities that have been threatened by floods. The goal of this article is to look at the impact of collective community empowerment as a flood coping method on riverine community livelihood security in Somalias Jowhar District. The paper is an excerpt from an empirical study on the impact of flood coping measures on the riverine communitys long-term livelihood security in Somalias Jowhar district.
