Abstract: Solid waste generation and management in Nigerian urban centers is a replica of what is obtained in most cities of Africa and other cities of developing countries. It is characterized by improper collection; transportation and disposal coupled with lack of data to facilitate in planning for sustainability. These problems therefore, informed the need to develop a strategy for sustainable solid waste management.
