Abstract:
The most effective way to mitigate the effects of natural disasters is to be prepared for them. Women, who “are key economic actors throughout the disaster cycle of preparedness, mitigation, relief, and reconstruction”, should be provided with capacity building training to reduce the impact of disasters. In this paper I attempt to put forth some of the training that has been provided to women as part of the disaster preparedness programme in the aftermath of the Super Cyclone.
