Abstract:
Trincomalee town, being located in the dry zone of Sri Lanka, cannot be considered a water-stressed area. However, there is an ever-increasing demand for drinking water supply due to the increase in population and the rapid development of the area. Trincomalee town receives 11,250 m3/d of treated water out of which 39% is recorded as NRW. Trincomalee town recorded a comparatively high percentage of Non-Revenue Water (39%) in the region mainly due to the deteriorated distribution system and associated problems.
