Abstract:
Myanmar has extensive mineral resources and a well-established centuries old mining industry. The main resources are iron, copper, gold, silver, lead, tin, tungsten, nickel, antimony, petroleum, gas, coal, jade and gemstone. In Myanmar, the mineral sector ranks third after agriculture and forestry products and is regarded as having excellent potential in the development programmes of the country. The aim of this paper is to introduce the explored and unexplored metalliferous ore minerals resources in Myanmar. It is also described the current status of mining and mineral processing industries.
