Abstract:
Periodontal disease compromises a wide range of inflammatory condition that affect supporting structure of teeth. To minimize the progression of periodontal disease early detection is crucial. Traditional periodontal parameters have its own limitation. Hence newer diagnostic methods are under research to overcome the difficulty with conventional methods. Dermatoglypics stands out to be an unexplored field in diagnosing various diseases including periodontal diseases. This review highlights the role of palmar dermatolglypics as an early predictor for periodontal disease.
