Abstract:
The Basic Proportionality Theorem (BPT), a fundamental principle in geometry, traditionally uses all three vertices of a triangle to explain the proportional division of sides by a line drawn parallel to one side. This paper explores an alternative interpretation that begins the reasoning process from only one vertex—intentionally omitting reference to the other two. This novel approach promotes a conceptual and intuitive understanding of proportionality, emphasizing visual geometry over symbolic labeling. Such a reinterpretation holds potential in simplifying geometric learning and deepening spatial reasoning.
