Abstract:
In this article the results obtained during a study using the Life Cycle Analysis methodology for the tanning process environmental performance, are reported. This study considered as a total environmental system, the chromium tanning process, and the beamhouse for hide/skin preprocessing. The study uses a functional unit of 1 kg of tanned cowhide produced by the wet blue process.
