Abstract:
This paper shows the decadal pattern of work participation rate among females in India using the evidence of thirty five states and union territories of India for three census years 1991, 2001 and 2011.This study uses the census data of female main workers and marginal workers to show the work participation. It is found that after the introduction of New Economic Policy in 1991, female the worker participates rates are declining, however pattern that is found from the evidences of the states and union territories in India reveals the difference in the work participation behaviour of female main and marginal workers.
