Abstract:
This study aimed to determine the level of reading skills of grade 4 learners in terms of phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension as perceived by parents and teachers. It also aimed to determine the practices and challenges encountered by parents and teachers in teaching reading. Using a quantitative non-experimental approach, particularly a descriptive design, the research aimed to investigate the different of reading skills as perceived between parents and teachers in terms of phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. A researcher-made survey questionnaire served as the primary data collection tool.
