Abstract:
The aim of this study is to analyse the level and explanatory factors of the technical efficiency of independent oil palm producers in the Sanaga-Maritime. To achieve this objective, we used the stochastic production frontier with embedded inefficiency effects, which we applied to primary data from a survey that covered the period from June 2018 to July 2019. The results lead to the conclusion that 81.6% of the production inefficiency is explained by the producers themselves and only 18.4% of this inefficiency is related to random factors. This inefficiency of independent producers is mainly related to off-farm income and their level of education.
