Abstract: Water is a scarce resource hence there is a general concern over its use. In particular, freshwater scarcity is recognized as a prominent environmental concern. As a result, the concept of water footprint as a measure to tackle the potential impacts of water use arose. The balance in water consumption is necessary because freshwater is essential to the daily life of human beings and its supply is also limited. As the global population rises, the need for fresh water grows too.
