Abstract:
Modern cooperatives were established in 1960 in Ethiopia when Ethiopia transplanted many laws to modernize the country. Since the establishment of modern cooperatives in Ethiopia, government uses cooperatives as instrument of development agenda and assist cooperatives to flourish in the country. The objective of this study was to know that whether government intervenes in cooperative autonomy. Convergent parallel mixed methods study was used to enhance our understanding of how government intervenes in cooperative autonomy.
