Abstract:
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)/ Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) threatens the social fabric of the most affected countries. Sub Saharan Africa has more than two thirds of all people living with HIV/AIDS globally and is the hardest hit region in the world. Although responses to the epidemic have been successful, they have focused primarily on the prevention of new infections and the treatment of existing ones. This study however focused on the psychological impact of HIV/AIDS on the livelihood participation of households, specifically in Taita Taveta County.
