Abstract:
Through a synthesis of scholarly viewpoints and empirical findings, the paper offers insights into the persuasive strategies employed through the use of the first singular and plural personal pronouns and the second personal pronouns as the pragmatic address forms by Joe Biden. It analyzes the pragmatic functions of the address forms Joe Biden used in his Presidential Inaugural Speech in light of the theories of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and Aristotles Persuasion Appeals. With a focus on their roles in fostering unity, responsibility, and audience engagement, the analysis deals with how Biden strategically deploys these address forms to enhance persuasion and shape public perception. Based on the methodology of discourse analysis, the study finds out a close correlation of individual agency and collective responsibility as Biden handles the complexities of political discourse.
