Abstract:
A distributed database system is a combination of sub-database separated over many sites communicated through a network. Deadlock is one of the most common problems that occur in distributed database implementation. Deadlock occurs when a multiple transaction locks the same data sources and every transaction waits for other to release. Deadlock detection and resolution is not easy in a distributed database system, because such system is composed of more than one site communicated to central database. The main objective of this study is to analyze several proposed algorithms to detect and resolve the deadlock in distributed database and propose a new technique to avoid the drawbacks of previous algorithms, besides enhancing the efficiency of detection and resolving the deadlock in distributed database.
