Abstract:
Natural resource-based conflicts are not new phenomena in the world and water is a leading natural resource causing conflict between communities living in water-stressed areas. West Pokot and Turkana counties are two neighboring regions known for perennial conflicts caused by competition over water, pasture and land disputes. The government of Kenya has been using various peace-building strategies to mitigate the conflict but their effectiveness is in doubt.
