Abstract: Cervical cerclage is a surgical procedure employed to prevent preterm birth by reinforcing the cervix in pregnant women diagnosed with cervical insufficiency. This technique has gained significance in managing pregnancies complicated by polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition prevalent among Indian women characterized by hormonal imbalance and metabolic issues. This article comprehensively explores recent advancements in cervical cerclage, comparing transvaginal and laparoscopic abdominal methods, and discusses the benefits of prophylactic versus therapeutic approaches. Emphasis is placed on the efficacy of these interventions in Indian women with PCOS, highlighting improved pregnancy outcomes and reduced preterm birth rates.
