Abstract:
Sorption of lead cadmium and copper was studied using mono, bi-and tri-metal batch test. Simple mathematical expressions were applied to establish relationship between concentration of the adsorbent in the liquid phase and the solid phase at equilibrium and at constant temperature. The studies revealed in general that the soil around the Nasarawa industrial waste dumpsite has a high capacity to sorb metal ions. Results from the kinetics batch tests have shown the applicability of a pseudo second order model to describe adsorption rates of each metal ion in the soil.
