Ethnomedicinal Plants in the Pumlen Lake, Kakching District, Manipur: A Traditional Knowledge of Therapeutic Use and Cultural Significance

Abstract: Pumlen Lake, located in the Kakching district, is one of the notable wetlands in Manipur that are deeply intertwined with local mythology and folklore. The Meitei and tribal communities in Manipur depend on wetland resources for food and traditional medicinal plants for health care. A field survey was conducted from January to December 2022 for investigation on the wetland ethnomedicinal plants species. Information was collected from the local healers, and recorded 44 wetland plant species for the ethnomedicinal purposes. Medicinal preparations were mainly used the leaf, followed by the whole plant, flower, stem, seed and rhizome.
