Abstract:
Natural substances that is locally, readily available and often considered as waste was potentially found to be good in water treatment. This paper investigated the hardness removal efficiency of Moringa oleifera pod extract for softening high hard water. The turbidity removal efficiency was investigated with 3% (w/v) and 6% (w/v) stock solution concentrations of Moringa oleifera pod, using jar test. Results obtained revealed that 540mg/L dose of the two stock solution concentrations gave the highest turbidity removal efficiency of 48% and 57% respectively. This study demonstrated the potential of using Moringa oleifera pod for softening high hard water.
