Abstract:
Procedures and systems related to the procurement process does differ based on different countries, governments, sectors, organisations etc. but general consensus is that, the adopted process involves three (3) main stages identified as planning, purchasing and contract management. In the Sri Lankan health sector too, these key stages are prevalent in the procurement of medical equipment however, various concerns have arisen with regard to the timeliness of the current processes. The objective of this study, was to assess the physical and financial progress of the medical equipment procurement process with respect to the date of delivery in each year, at the Regional Directorate of Health Services (RDHS) in Gampaha, Sri Lanka.
