Sputum Cytology as a Diagnostic Alternative for Pulmonary Adenocarcinoma in a Frail Elderly Patient Unsuitable for Transthoracic Lung Biopsy: A Case Report and Brief Literature Review
     Suriany, Aryani Alexandra Angeliwu
Abstract: Background: Although histopathological examination remains the gold standard for diagnosing lung adenocarcinoma, invasive tissue biopsy is not always feasible in elderly or medically frail patients. This report describes the diagnostic and therapeutic utility of serial sputum cytology integrated with ancillary biomarker testing in pulmonary adenocarcinoma.
