Abstract: The impact of industries on selected heavy metals in soil samples of Nnewi-North, Anambra State, Nigeria was studied. The levels of seven heavy metals (Pb, Mn, Zn, Ni, Cr, Cu, and Cd) in top soil (15-20cm), from the area were determined using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometric technique. The HNO3-HCl-H2O2 method was used in the soil sample extraction. Accuracy of the method was assessed by the determination of a certified reference soil material, CC-141, obtained from European Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC) Belgium and the results showed agreement with certified values.
