Abstract:
Physical activity contributes significantly to the healthy growth and maturation of adolescents. Lack of adequate physical activity among youths is a public health burden in Mississippi. Adolescents and children of 6 years and above require at least one hour of physical activity daily for optimal health benefits. This study examined the prevalence of physical inactivity among high school students in Mississippi by gender, race, and grade. This is a cross-sectional study using data obtained from the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) for 2019.
