Abstract:
The gap between theory and practice has been a critical issue in medical education. Past studies have shown that the gap between theory and practice is a result from the non-existent integration between theory and practice. This article seeks to discuss how integration between the two can be enhanced in the paramedic curriculum of the Ministry of Health Malaysia. There are 7 main factors that have been discussed namely the curriculum model, organisation and the content of theory and practice, teaching methodology, assessment criteria, the role of the lecturer, the role of the service staff and hidden curriculum.
