Abstract: This article delves into the conceptual metaphors of “sorrow” in the song lyrics by John Lennon. Utilizing a focused analysis of the songs lyrical content, it seeks to decode the layers of meaning encapsulated within its verses. Through the lens of conceptual metaphor theory, the research elucidates the various source domains used to map onto the target domain of “sorrow”.
