Abstract:
Retirement is commonly associated with the conclusion of formal employment, whether due to reaching retirement age, medical reasons, or redundancy and could also be initiated voluntarily through early retirement. The process of transitioning to retirement was known to impact individuals’ social identity, influencing their well-being in diverse ways. Depending on the psychological significance attached to their formal job, individuals experienced varying effects as they navigated this transition, often relinquishing their work-related identities to prioritize personal roles.
