Abstract:
The prevalence of anemic adolescent is still public health problem in Indonesia. The objective of this study was to compare the effect of multiple micronutrient and iron folic acid supplementation on hemoglobin and ferritin serum levels in adolescent school girls who suffer from anemia. The study was a randomized controlled trial conducted in five schools in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi Indonesia from January to October 2013. The subjects were 148 adolescent girl with anemia were randomly allocated into two groups. The first group (n=75) received a multiple micronutrient (MMN) and second group (n=73) received an iron folic acid (IFA) supplement. Suplement was consumed twice a week for 26 weeks.
