Abstract:
This study explores the role performance of Administrative Officers II (AO IIs) within the Department of Education (DepEd) in Sibagat and Esperanza Districts, Agusan del Sur. As non-teaching staff, AO IIs are increasingly tasked with both primary administrative responsibilities and ancillary functions previously held by teachers—such as coordination of health services, disaster preparedness, and school records management. This shift stems from DepEd’s policy efforts to ease the workload of teachers and optimize school operations. Guided by agency theory and resource dependency theory, the study employed a descriptive mixed-method approach involving 54 survey respondents and 8 key informant interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using mean scores, while qualitative responses were interpreted thematically. Results revealed high effectiveness among AO IIs in core areas including personnel administration, general office support, and financial monitoring.
