Abstract:
Much has been written both in global and local level on rice cultivation, rice production and associated problems, the impact of land-use changes, biodiversity in rice fields. Yet, an area that has received little attention in the Sri Lankan context, is the avifaunal species utilizing rice fields. As a consequence of rapid urbanization, the extent of rice fields is decreasing year by year.
