Abstract:
The present study indicated the ability of isolated R3 strain in degrading high-strength phenol. Optimal conditions obtained in this experiment laid a solid foundation for further use of this microorganism in the treatment of phenol effluents. The growth and phenol biodegradation study was carried out in MSAM medium with phenol as the sole carbon source and energy. The strains were designated as R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6. One of the strains namely R3 was found to be highly effective for the removal of phenol.
