Abstract:
Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) is an essential newborn package for reduction of neonatal mortality rates among preterm and low birth weight (LBW) babies. However, KMC uptake remains low in Kenya. This paper was part of a major study assessing the determinants of KMC utilization among post hospitalization mothers that carried out in Kerugoya County Referral Hospital situated in Kirinyaga County. The study used analytical cross sectional design utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methods. Data was gathered using structured questionnaires, key informant interviews and focus group discussions.
