The magnitude and rate of forest cover change over the past 30 years in Adaba-Dodola district, Ethiopia have been investigated. The forest cover map based on land use/land cover of the area is generated by using remote sensing (RS) and geographic information system (GIS) techniques. The mainland use/land cover types have been identified as dense forest, open forest, grassland, agriculture, settlement, and water body after collecting and examining literature and information from interviews, field observation, and multiple sources. Moreover, digital data from the Landsat satellite images in the year 1988, 2003 and 2018 were employed.
