Abstract: The medical and health sciences have made tremendous advances over the past decades, altering the way diseases are prevented, diagnosed, treated and managed. Advances in science, technology and clinical practice have helped to extend lifespan, lower death rates from some causes and enhance the quality of life for many populations. The emerging technologies of medical imaging, molecular biology, pharmaceutical research, biotechnology, and digital healthcare have given healthcare providers the means to detect disease at an earlier stage, prescribe and administer correct treatments, and track patient outcomes more effectively. Improvements in medical science go hand-in-hand with improvements in scientific research and inter-disciplinary collaboration. This new era of healthcare sees a blend of medical and other disciplines like genetics, engineering, computer science, pharmacology, bioinformatics and public health. The partnerships have resulted in new diagnostic devices, more precise therapies, less invasive surgeries and innovative disease prevention techniques. The use of digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is also impacting clinical decision-making, medical research and the organisation of healthcare services.
