Abstract: Background: Pharmacovigilance (PV) is the science of detecting, assessing, and preventing adverse drug reactions (ADRs), which are often not fully recognised in pre-marketing clinical trials [85]. Objective: This review analyses the historical development of PV (1848–2025), comparing global milestones with Indian initiatives, and identifies future challenges and opportunities [86].
