Abstract:
This study set out to examine the effect of family support on the success of women entrepreneurs in three districts (Maseru, Mafeteng and Leribe) of Lesotho. The study adopted the interpretive phenomenological qualitative research design. Thirty face-to-face semi-structured interviews were used to collect data. The findings reveal that women entrepreneurs in Lesotho received the following types of family support: financial and non-financial support, emotional support, and instrumental support which helped them in achieving the success of their businesses. These findings highlight the importance of family support to women who own and run their businesses within the Basotho context and culture, which had the greatest impact on the success of their businesses. Therefore, future research should focus on male entrepreneurs to make a comparison of family support between the two genders.
