Abstract: Unintended pregnancies among university students are a pressing public health issue with far-reaching consequences for individual well-being, academic achievement, and broader societal development. These pregnancies are often associated with early childbearing, which increases vulnerability to HIV/AIDS, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. In 2017, young people accounted for 34% of new HIV infections globally, underscoring the prevalence of unprotected sexual activity in this demographic. Additionally, while two-thirds of unintended pregnancies result in childbirth, one-third end in unsafe abortions, contributing to maternal morbidity and mortality.
