This article aims to review communication approaches and their practical application in nature conservation projects. It is based on a case study of Dongtan Wetland Park located in Shanghai, China and utilizes communication strategy planning approach in identifying main stakeholders and analyzing communication activities performed by the management of the park. It examines the core communication approaches of marketing, branding, public relations, fund raising, conflict management, environmental education, capacity building and stakeholder management. The article highlights the importance of communication strategy planning in nature conservation projects and provides recommendations for improved communication management of Dongtan Wetland Park.
