The chief aim of this study is to determine the presence of Salmonella in bottled drinking water collected from different districts in Sri Lanka. Salmonella is a gram negative, non-lactose fermenting bacterium belonging to the Enterobacteriaceae family. Salmonella is considered to be one of the leading causes of intestinal illness around the world. It also has been regarded as the etiological agent causing sever systemic diseases including typhoid and paratyphoid fevers.
