Teaching English in rural schools has been a challenge for the most of the English as a Second Language and English as a Foreign Language teachers. Therefore, this study was carried out with the aim of investigating the challenges faced by the teachers in teaching English to the students in rural schools in the Kinniya Education Zone, Trincomalee. This study was a survey research, and both qualitative and quantitative methods were used for data collection.
