This research deeply discusses how Sinhala culture makes an impact on the culture of the Burghers. There are few studies in Sri Lanka based on Burghers but finding split identity of Burghers in Kurunegala region is a new research topic in the academic field of Sri Lanka, especially when it is focused with the cultural differences. There are number of researchers written about the influence of Sinhala language, the major language of Sri Lanka on English which is used by people as a second language. But no research has been done to examine the influence of Sinhala on Burghers whose L1 is basically English. So, this research might be a very effective and interesting product for the linguistic field, as it will open an area which is hardly spoken by the Sri Lankans. There are 4 major races in Sri Lanka, among four races, this particular race is one of documentary written major races. Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and even Veddas community struggle to gain their rights through various ways, but there is no any sound voice for this particular race so far in the state, therefore a certain prestigious identity should be build up in order to protect this race at least through these types of researches.
