Abstract:
The present study was conducted to investigate the students attitudes towards English language learning (ELL) and use of self-regulated learning (SRL) strategies at one college in Dak Lak, Vietnam. This study involved 241 non-English majors taking part in answering a questionnaire. The results showed that although the participants had positive attitudes towards ELL, they were likely to engage in SRL very low. Number of years of learning English did not account for the participants change of attitudes to ELL. Academic achievements were also found to be significantly related to cognitive learning and environment management strategies. Additionally, academic achievements and attitudes towards ELL were positively correlated to SRL, yet only attitudes towards ELL were predictors of SRL.
