Abstract:
This paper examines conflict and its management in an organization. The approach adopted is theoretical as it assesses based on extant literature. Functional and dysfunctional conflicts were examined as well as five styles or techniques of conflict management. The generality of view and theory that supports conflict indicates that the style to be adopted depends largely on the situation. The paper concludes that conflict is inevitable in all aspect of life especially in an organization. It recommends employees awareness in accepting and appreciating the differences in perceptions and behaviour of individual within organization, in order to foster cordial relationship between individuals, groups and the organization for attainment of goals and objectives.
